I make site specific, interactive sculptures and installations to activate perceptual awareness. The site and the viewer are incorporated as subject and material. Devices such as mirrors, optical lenses and tubes condense, refract and transmit light to alter perception of space. Simple events such as fan blowing a pinwheel might be staged in a hidden or private area to be transmitted to and viewed in a public area. This process reveals the unseen space and diffracts the viewing experience into discernible layers of information. I am interested in the transformation of visual and sonic information as it is communicated between one space and another through a traceable, analog process. |
